Le successeur de cette s\u00e9rie, le mod\u00e8le 230 SL, a r\u00e9volutionn\u00e9 sa pr\u00e9sentation au Salon de Gen\u00e8ve de 1963 par ses lignes et proportions extraordinaires cr\u00e9es par le designer Pierre Bracq. Le principal trait distinctif r\u00e9sidait dans le toit rigide amovible, baptis\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0pagode\u00a0\u00bb pour sa ressemblance avec la structure d\u2019un temple japonais. Curieusement, sa conception r\u00e9pondait plus \u00e0 des raisons techniques de s\u00e9curit\u00e9 que stylistiques.<\/p>\n

Au cours de son histoire, deux nouvelles versions seulement diff\u00e9renci\u00e9es en m\u00e9canique, les mod\u00e8les 250 SL et 280 SL, ont \u00e9t\u00e9 faites ce dernier tr\u00e8s populaire sur le march\u00e9 am\u00e9ricain gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son changement automatique.<\/p>\n
