Su nombre est\u00e1 \u00edntimamente ligado a la marca Rolls-Royce ya que su padre fue el que encarg\u00f3 la primera estatuilla del \u201cEsp\u00edritu del \u00c9xtasis\u201d para coronar el radiador de su Silver Ghost.<\/p>\n

Desde mediados de los sesenta este ejemplar form\u00f3 parte de la colecci\u00f3n del empresario y pionero californiano William Fisk Harrah, fundador de los Hoteles y Casinos Harrah y creador del museo de su mismo nombre en Reno, Nevada, hoy desaparecido.<\/p>\n

Este ejemplar es un fiel exponente del refinado trabajo del fabricante Barker, situado en la \u00e9lite de los carroceros. Presenta un techo alto y se distribuye en tres hileras de ventanas, las traseras m\u00e1s estrechas. con cortinas, que aportan gran luminosidad, a la que contribuye un techo solar. La parrilla de la parte trasera soporta un gran ba\u00fal portaequipajes bajo el cual lucen los focos de posici\u00f3n. El radiador es de panal de abeja y el parabrisas abatible facilita la ventilaci\u00f3n y la visibilidad en caso de lluvia.<\/p>\n

El color granate del cuerpo y negro de las aletas y techo combina con la tapicer\u00eda color marfil del gran sof\u00e1 trasero y de la moqueta. Cuenta con un revistero, dos asientos plegables y mueble bar. Se halla separado del espacio del chofer, tapizado como el espacio de los pasajeros, por una mampara de cristales correderos mientras que una trompetilla facilita la comunicaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Bajo el cap\u00f3 se oculta un motor de seis cilindros en l\u00ednea de 7428 cc y 60 hp. Cuenta con frenos de tambor \u00fanicamente en las ruedas traseras y con una caja de cambios de cuatro velocidades, con embrague c\u00f3nico.<\/p>\n

El inusual nivel de calidad y tecnolog\u00eda que el Silver Ghost presentaba desde su aparici\u00f3n en 1906 es fruto de la inventiva de Henry Royce, que supervis\u00f3 todo el proceso de fabricaci\u00f3n del nuevo modelo. A diferencia de los coches de la \u00e9poca, los motores por \u00e9l dise\u00f1ados resolv\u00edan eficazmente el exceso de ruido o de vibraciones y permit\u00edan una placentera conducci\u00f3n. La firma Rolls-Royce llev\u00f3 asimismo al mayor grado de excelencia el dise\u00f1o y construcci\u00f3n de los chasis, a manos de artesanos capaces de crear todo tipo de exquisiteces y detalles funcionales que confer\u00edan al coche el car\u00e1cter de \u00fanico.<\/p>\n
