La gran demanda del modelo Silver Ghost existente en el mercado americano propici\u00f3 la implantaci\u00f3n en 1921 de una f\u00e1brica en Massachussets, en la localidad de Springfield. Aunque en un principio se pretendi\u00f3 que el modelo 40\/50 fuera id\u00e9ntico a su hom\u00f3logo de Derby, las condiciones locales y las preferencias de los clientes pronto forzar\u00edan los cambios. Progresivamente se fueron introduciendo piezas mec\u00e1nicas americanas, m\u00e1s baratas que las importadas, que afectaban a los magnetos, sistema de ignici\u00f3n, generadores y dem\u00e1s accesorios. Algunas mejoras ser\u00edan incorporadas posteriormente a la fabricaci\u00f3n inglesa, como el sistema de engrase centralizado o el doble encendido por bobina<\/p>\n

De color negro en las cuatro puertas y de capota de lona de color hueso, accionada por varillas, este descapotable presenta unos rasgos identificativos propios de la factor\u00eda de Springfield, como son los grandes parachoques, los faros de tambor y la posici\u00f3n del volante en la parte izquierda<\/p>\n

Incorpora en los laterales del cap\u00f3 las trampillas de ventilaci\u00f3n y en los estribos una caja de bater\u00eda y dos ruedas de repuesto, a diferencia de los ejemplares anteriores. La parte trasera incluye un gran ba\u00fal. Los asientos son de cuero negro y la moqueta de color beige. Dispone de dos transportines y de una pantalla quitavientos para los pasajeros<\/p>\n

Las mejoras mec\u00e1nicas realizadas en esta \u00e9poca contemplaban el arranque el\u00e9ctrico, el reemplazo de las antiguas l\u00e1mparas de acetileno por luces el\u00e9ctricas y el cambio de ubicaci\u00f3n de la bomba<\/p>\n

En el per\u00edodo de entreguerras floreci\u00f3 en todo el mundo una nueva clase, integrada por artistas y celebridades, que viajaban desde Hollywood a Cannes exhibiendo un lujo y un glamour que no era ajeno a los Rolls-Royce. Personajes literarios como el Gran Gatsby simbolizaban su \u00e9xito social a manos de un Silver Ghost, mientras que protagonistas de la era dorada del Jazz, como Cole Porter, no dudaban en cantar las excelencias de la doble R entrelazada[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”4455″ img_size=”large” alignment=”right”][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
