Manteniendo la costumbre de no cambiar al mismo tiempo el motor y la carrocer\u00eda, el nuevo modelo conservaba la carrocer\u00eda de la serie anterior; exteriormente era pr\u00e1cticamente la misma y s\u00f3lo en el habit\u00e1culo se encontraban peque\u00f1as diferencias de unos acabados de alt\u00edsima calidad de est\u00e9tica cl\u00e1sica y muy elegante. El nuevo y potente motor de ocho cilindros, que permit\u00eda viajar con gran fiabilidad, fue el utilizado en la quinta serie de las limusinas Phantom (1959-1968), el sucesor del Silver Wraith.<\/p>\n

En 1953 los ingenieros de Rolls-Royce trabajaban sobre un nuevo motor m\u00e1s potente que el motor de seis cilindros al que reemplazaba, pero manteniendo el mismo nivel de silencio y suavidad. Deber\u00eda caber en el mismo espacio que el Silver Cloud I y emplear el mismo radiador. Se descart\u00f3 el motor de ocho cilindros en l\u00ednea utilizado en el Phantom IV por las numerosas modificaciones en los bastidores existentes. Se basaron en los modernos dise\u00f1os del los V8 americanos, que eran los mejores del mundo, particularmente Cadillac y Chrysler.<\/p>\n

\u00daltimo Rolls-Royce en ser fabricado con chasis separado, el Silver Cloud fue el principal veh\u00edculo fabricado en Crewe, desde abril de 1955 hasta marzo de 1966. El modelo exhibido se adivina que proviene de Francia por el color de los faros. Tiene el chasis m\u00e1s corto en relaci\u00f3n con el vecino modelo de la misma serie.<\/p>\n
