1957 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I #LSJF166

1957 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud I #LSJF166

In 1955, engineer John P. Blatchey covered an elegant and balanced body with rounded shapes that, at first sight, it did not show the enormous size of the car. The improvements in both mechanical and comfort aspects, such as the desirable power steering, endorsed the prestige of the car; that was qualified by the press as one of the best vehicles in the world.

This model was the first to offer a standard bodywork, instead of being sold as a ‘rolling chassis’, that customers would body à la carte with specialist companies. It became immensely popular for starring in the wedding of Rainier of Monaco just one year after its launch, and sold an unprecedented number to date in America – mainly in Hollywood.  The successive models Silver Cloud II and Silver Cloud III remained in production until 1966.
